Exhibition of Egon Schiele, 22 February - 18 June 2017

Egon Schiele numbers among the pioneers of modernism in Austria along with Gustav Klimt and Oskar Kokoschka.

And in anticipation of the 100-year anniversary of Egon Schiele’s passing in 1918, the Albertina is mounting a large-scale presentation from its own extensive holdings of Schiele’s works. This exhibition will offer a unique overview of Schiele’s development as a draughtsman and watercolourist while introducing an artistic oeuvre that found its great, overarching theme in human beings’ existential loneliness.
To this day, Schiele’s works bear devastating witness to his inability to shake the despair of feeling fundamentally misunderstood.

Location: Albertina, Albertinaplatz 1, 1010 Wien
