A pool with a view in Dubai
Sure, Dubai has no shortage of resort pools, marinas and of course the swimmer-friendly sheltered Arabian Gulf for those wanting to take a dip. But being Dubai, there's always the option to one-up. Whether you're looking to soak up the sun, teetering on the edge of an infinity pool, or simply seeking a cool change during the hotter summer months, a few hours hanging out at one of Dubai's rooftop pools is guaranteed to be time well spent.
Best Rooftop Pools in Dubai
The Address Dubai Marina
Along with one of the largest pools in the Marina precinct at an impressive 50 metres long, The Address Dubai Marina's elevated infinity pool has the ultimate cosmopolitan setting, with views of the iconic twisted Cayan Tower and the heights of Jumeirah Beach. While plenty of interrupted sunshine filters through the surrounding towers, after sunset is the ideal time to take to the water and take in the twinkling lights of passing dhows in the harbour below, and the bustle of the Marina's vivid nightlife.
Conrad Dubai
Resort meets rooftop in the Conrad's Purobeach urban oasis. Hidden from busy Sheikh Zayed Road thanks to lush greenery and tasteful canopies, this collection of pools is perfect for all-day lounging and family fun. Pick your perch from one of the clusters of private cocoon beds border the water's edge – but be quick, this rooftop is popular with locals and visitors alike.
Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach
Sofitel's Infini Pool Lounge has a front-row seat for the Arabian Gulf's picture-perfect spectacular sunsets. Take a seat at the swim-up bar and sip your sundowner as you revel in the coast-to-coast panoramic ocean views.
Bonus: the lounge's mezzeh platters featuring barbecued shish taouk and Arabic dips are well worth a nibble!
Four Points by Sheraton Sheikh Zayed Road
While it is shallow, this pool makes up for its lack of depth with fantastic city-to-bay views, as seen from an incredible 43 floors up. During the day, light snacks are served right to your sun lounge, with the tempo upping to become a chic bar by night, frequented by regulars looking to dance the day off. Perfect for night owls after a moonlit dip, the pool and bar are both open for business until 2am.
InterContinental Dubai Festival City
Guests can keep tabs on the comings and goings of Old Town's traditional dhows thanks to the InterContinental's Dubai Creek vantage point. While the open-air pool will keep you cool, it's the transparent glass tank that juts out from the side of the building that will take your breath away. Hanging 25 metres in the air, swimmers can take in the scenery below, while passerbys beneath can check out your backstroke.
Park Regis Kris Kin
Sometimes being a little out of the way has its benefits. While the Park Regis is out of the Downtown action, its rooftop has views for days thanks to the lack of towering neighbours. Guests can dine and drink poolside while enjoying impressive views stretching from the coastline to the Burj Khalifa.
The Meydan Hotel
A favourite during the racing season, The Meydan edges the lush racecourse that's inherited its name. No wonder the pool terrace spots the best view of the track. Grab a lilo and kick back to watch the world's finest put through their paces competing for the World Cup's massive prize pot.
Raffles Dubai
A family-friendly option, kids will love playing under the in-pool sprinklers, while parents can take a breather and keep watch while enjoying the heated indivdual spa beds, mixed drink in hand. Embracing its metropolitan location, guests can gaze out onto another of Dubai's unsung spectacles, Wafi Mall's Eygptians-meet-aliens LCD light-scattered modernised pyramid.
Sofitel Downtown
File this beauty under 'showstopper'. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better view of the iconic Burj Khalifa, with even hard-to-impress locals dropping by this terrace-level pool for a stunning photo opp. It's not just about looks though, with the 60 metre-long infinity pool perfect for lazy laps, and the Mosaic Pool and Lounge brunch offering international cuisine served fresh from the surrounding food carts.
