Set in 17 hectares of lush parkland just minutes from the CBD, Auckland Zoo is home to New Zealand’s largest collection of native and exotic animals.

Wander through the African pridelands and be wowed by the elegant giraffes, watchful lions, rugged rhinos, flamboyant flamingos and wallowing hippos. Be mesmerised by Asian elephant Burma in her Elephant Clearing home, or on one of her daily walks around the Zoo’s grounds.

Walk amongst wallabies, emus and peacocks roaming in the Australia enclosure, venture through the tropical aviaries and marvel at the unique Tasmanian devils.

Visit the rainforests and spy the huge variety of primates – from cheeky spider monkeys swinging on ropes to lemurs basking in the sun and thoughtful orangutans lounging in the jungle.

Come face-to-face with the majestic Sumatran tigers through their amazing glass-fronted enclosure that gets you so close you can see their whiskers twitch.

Discover Te Wao Nui - a truly unique and immersive experience of New Zealand’s animals, plants and culture. Set over a fifth of the Zoo’s impressive 17ha, Te Wao Nui is home to over 100 native plant species and around 60 different animal species including the mysterious tuatara and iconic kiwi.
