The area is characterised by an amazing seven aqueducts as well as various ancient buildings including the villa delle Vignacce (vineyards) and the so-called Casale (farmhouse) di Roma Vecchia. The names of the different aqueducts are the Anio Vetus, the Anio Novus, the Aqua Marcia, the Tepula, the Iulia, the Aqua Claudia and the Acquedotto Felice, the latter of which was commissioned by Pope Sixtus V during the Renaissance in 1595, and built with arches taken from the Acquedotto Marcio. It is still in working use!
