Since its inauguration 122 years ago, the Venice Biennale has organised exhibitions in many branches of the Arts—art, architecture, cinema, dance, music and theatre—and hosted exhibitions of the works of a number of artists, from Renoir and Picasso to Damien Hirst and Hito Steyerl.
